# Using the map

What your players can do — copy this straight into your rules or Discord.

## Opening the map

|                   |                                                                         |
| ----------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **M** | Open the fullscreen map (rebindable in FiveM's key settings) |
| **Esc** | The pause menu, which now has the map in it |
| **Hold Left Alt** | Peek around the minimap without opening anything — you can keep driving |

Once the big map is open, close it the same way you opened it, or with **Esc**.

## Moving around

* **Drag** to pan
* **Scroll** to zoom
* **Right-drag** to turn and tilt the map
* **Click a blip** to see its name, description and how far away it is
* **Double-click** anywhere to set a waypoint — double-click again to clear it

## Setting a waypoint

Three ways, all of which draw a route immediately:

1. Double-click the map
2. Click a blip and press **Set waypoint**
3. Set it on the game's own pause map, as you always have

The route follows roads for cars, **works on foot** (which the base game does not do), and becomes a dashed direct line with distance and bearing in a helicopter, plane or boat. It survives teleports and respawns, and the remaining distance counts down smoothly as you travel.

## Finding things

* The **search box** looks through blips, zones and legend groups by name.
* The **legend** groups blips by kind, and each group can be switched off — hide the categories you do not care about and the map gets quiet.
* When several blips sit on top of each other, they're grouped into one card you can page through instead of fighting over the same pixel.

## Making it yours

Everything below is per-player and remembered between sessions — set it once and forget it.

* **Map style** — game artwork, paper print, or satellite render
* **2D or 3D** — chosen separately for the minimap and the fullscreen map
* **Accent colour** — 17 options; it colours the route, the waypoint pin and the HUD
* **Minimap shape** — position, width, height, corner roundness (square through fully round), border width, colour and opacity, shadow, and how much of the world it shows

{% hint style="info" %}
The minimap zooms out on its own when you drive fast, so you see further ahead. Your chosen size is the smallest it will ever be — speed only ever widens it.
{% endhint %}
